St. Nick is the story of a brother and sister on the run. They've left their home for some unknown reason and are living in the woods, hiding in barns and sheds, doing what they can to survive. As the bitter Texas winter sets in, they strike up residence in an abandoned country house and, for a brief, happy period, manage to escape the harsh realities of their circumstances.

Based on the Q&A, I realize there are people who find this kind of film wonderfully artistic, but I found it almost unbearable. This is like the worst aspects of mumblecore, only with young kids. I generally could still be impressed by this type of film if the kids give wonderful, natural performances, but even that is missing here. The kids are *okay*, but they are given nothing interesting to say or do, and at times even their walk seems forced and unnatural. If you like long shots of nothing at all in frame for twelve second stretches, or slide shows of nature that have little if anything to do with anything, or bizarre sound-design choices that lead nowhere, you'll find this a true work of art. If you're like me, and want to see a story with characters you care about, with arcs, with anything even closely resembling a plot...you'll probably walk out of this before it's over. (Note to director: There's this thing called an editor. Get one. ...Of course, once you have one, you'd likely have a 17-minute short, not a feature film. But that'd be a lot better. Trust me.)
